HC Deb 04 December 1934 vol 295 c1395
13. Mr. MANDER

asked the President of the Board of Trade the present position with regard to clearing negotiations with Turkey?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I would refer to the reply I gave on the 29th November to the hon. and gallant Member for Blackpool (Captain Erskine-Bolst) regarding negotiations with Turkey, and would add that the instructions referred to in that reply have now been sent to His Majesty's Ambassador at Angora.

Mr. MANDER

In view of the great importance of this question from a business point of view, can the right hon. Gentleman give some indication as to when an agreement is likely to be reached?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I am afraid that I cannot prophesy.
