HC Deb 30 April 1934 vol 289 cc34-5
22. Mr. T. SMITH (for Mr. THORNE)

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can give the House any information in connection with the German Government's decision to end all debt payments; and what action the Government intends taking in the matter?

Sir J. SIMON

So far as I am aware, no such decision has been taken by the German Government. The question of Germany's foreign indebtedness in respect of medium and long-term loans is at present the subject of discussions between the German authorities and the creditors, and pending the outcome of these discussions I am unable to make any further statement on the subject.
