These returns, moreover, do not distinguish the numbers of able-bodied workmen in receipt of relief. During the month of March, 1934, in the county of Durham, together with the associated 1706 county boroughs, the average number of men in receipt of out-relief who were ordinarily engaged in some regular occupation was 15,505.
