§ 29. Mr. MITCHESONasked the Minister of Transport the date on which the Central Electricity Board came to a special agreement with the Wimbledon Corporation Electricity Department; what were the terms of the agreement; and by how much a year the revenue of the Central Electricity Board will suffer by this arrangement as compared with the revenue obtained if Wimbledon had been supplied from the grid at tariff rate?
§ Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAMI am informed that the arrangement referred to was concluded between the London and Home Counties Joint Electricity Authority and the Wimbledon Corporation on 1st July, 1933. The alternative method by which Wimbledon Corporation might have been brought into association with the national system would not have been a supply at tariff rates, but the selection of the Wimbledon station. I understand 1120 that the London Joint Authority and the Central Electricity Board are satisfied that the arrangement concluded is more advantageous to the grid and the authorised undertakers receiving a supply from it than the alternative method mentioned.
§ Mr. MITCHESONIs the hon. and gallant Gentleman satisfied that the price paid by the Wimbledon Council is more than the actual cost of consumption or less than the cost to the Central Electricity Board?
§ Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAMThe arrangement made will not involve any other undertakers in extra expense.
