HC Deb 17 April 1934 vol 288 cc878-9
28. sir IAN MACPHERSON

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if the scheme has been prepared dealing with the Aberlour Orphanage Trust by the Educational Endowments Commission; if it has been submitted to him; and, if so, when he proposes to give his decision upon it?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Mr. Skelton)

The scheme prepared by the commissioners has been submitted to the Department and is now being considered along with the objections thereto which have been received. The right hon. Gentleman may be interested to learn that the commissioners, after negotiation with the executive committee of the Representative Church Council of the Episcopal Church in Scotland and with the Committee of Management of Aberlour Orphanage, have themselves proposed that the scheme be remitted to them by the Department in order that effect may be given to certain agreed amendments which, I am informed, will render the scheme acceptable to the afore-mentioned bodies.
