§ 11. Sir WILLIAM DAVISONasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the missing foundation stone of 695 the new League of Nations buildings at Geneva has yet been found; what is the total expenditure in sterling already incurred in the erection of the buildings; what proportion of this amount has been provided by Great Britain; and what is the estimated sum required to complete the buildings?
§ Sir J. SIMONThe assertion in my hon. Friend's question that the foundation stone of the new League of Nations building at Geneva is missing is itself without any foundation. I am obtaining from Geneva the information asked for in the second and third parts of the question and will communicate it to my hon. Friend in due course.
§ Sir W. DAVISONIs it not a fact that the foundation stone has been removed from the position where it was originally placed and where it was stated to be well and truly laid?
§ Sir J. SIMONI shall require notice of that question, but I can assure my hon. Friend, after having made inquiries, that the foundation stone is there.
§ Mr. CHARLES WILLIAMSWas not America the original foundation stone of that building?
