§ 27. Mr. LEWISasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the net addition to or reduction from the nominal amount of debt outstanding in each of the last 10 years; and the total yield of the Death Duties during each of the same years?
§ Mr. HORE-BELISHAI gave my hon. Friend the greater part of this information in reply to a question put by him on the 1st May last; but I will repeat the figures for his convenience in the table which I am circulating in the OFFICIAL REPORT. It will be appreciated that variations in the nominal total of the debt are not a reliable guide to variations in its actual burden.
