HC Deb 09 April 1934 vol 288 c5
11. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether there has been any increase in Russian orders of British goods since the signing of the Anglo-Russian Trade Agreement?

Lieut.-Colonel J. COLVILLE (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)

The information asked for is not available, as British firms are under no obligation to report the orders which they receive from the Soviet Government. I have heard of one or two important inquiries, but would point out that in view of the short time which has elapsed since the signature of the agreement any attempt to assess its effect would be premature.
