HC Deb 30 November 1933 vol 283 cc1033-4
73. Mr. BANFIELD

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether he has now inquired into the question of the accommodation at the premises occupied by the Bloomsbury Tax Office, Room 309, 88, Kingsway, W.C.2; and whether the accommodation provided for the public and the staff has been improved in consequence?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative; in regard to the second part an alternative arrangement of staff to overcome the defect had been proposed to the Inland Revenue, but this is now being reconsidered by them in view of a probable increase in the district staff.

Sir J. GILMOUR

I think I have answered that question. Out of 77 appointed since the War, 4.2 have been ex-service men.
