HC Deb 28 November 1933 vol 283 c686
47. Mr. LYONS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what alteration of policy in connection with the Exchange Equalisation Account has been, or will be, made in consequence of recent fluctuations in the American dollar rate?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

As I indicated in my reply to the hon. Members for Moseley (Mr. Hannon) and North-East Derby (Mr. Whyte) on the 23rd November, I am carefully watching the situation in all its aspects, but I do not think it necessary or desirable to say more at the present time.

Mr. LYONS

While thanking my right hon. Friend for that answer, would it not be in the public interest to give the information?

Sir W. BRASS

Can the right hon. Gentleman give us any idea, when this fund will be wound up and an account rendered to the House?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Not at present.
