HC Deb 27 November 1933 vol 283 c492
66. Mr. REMER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that approximately £9,000,000 is exported annually in payment for foreign films outside British Empire territories; and if he will consider in his next Budget statement proposals by which this large sum can be retained in the British Isles, either by an ad valorem tax or British Income Tax?

I cannot confirm the correctness of the figure mentioned. On the question of taxation, my hon. Friend will not expect the Budget statement to be anticipated.
