HC Deb 23 November 1933 vol 283 c248
30. Captain WATT

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what the cost to the Treasury would be if all the cute imposed in 1931 were to be restored?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

It is estimated that the cost of cancelling the reductions of remuneration made in 1931, and of increasing the rates of unemployment benefit to the pre-1931 level, would be about £23,000,000 a year.
