HC Deb 15 November 1933 vol 281 c928
67. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the local representations made to him with regard to the unhealthy and inconvenient site chosen for the new housing scheme in Greengairs, Lanarkshire, he will make inquiries into the matter?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Mr. Skelton)

As my hon. Friend is aware, my right hon. Friend has already had inquiries made into this matter, but as the question of the selection of building sites is one within the discretion of local authorities themselves, he is unable to interfere with the decision of the county council. I may say, however, that the selected site has the approval of the county medical officer and that, as regards the question of convenience, it is situated half a mile from the centre of the village?
