§ 72. Mr. GRAHAM WHITE (for Mr. HOLDSWORTH)asked the Secretary of 908 State for Dominion Affairs if he is aware of the action of the Australian Government in refusing in many cases to allow the deduction of discounts from prices quoted to merchants in the assessment of goods for the purposes of Customs Duties or in fixing the maximum discount in an arbitrary manner; and what steps he is taking to put an end to a system which is a handicap to British traders and in effect an infringement of the Ottawa Agreement?
§ Mr. WOMERSLEY (Lord of the Treasury)I have been asked to reply. If the hon. Member will be good enough to send my right hon. Friend fuller particulars of the precise difficulties which he has in mind, he will be glad to look into the subject further.
