HC Deb 13 November 1933 vol 281 c547
20. Mr. McENTEE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how many new passports have been granted in the past year; what has been the extra cost of such passports; and whether this Department is now making a profit or losing money?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Eden)

The number of new passports issued during the 12 months ended on 30th September last was 114,437. I regret that I am not clear as to the meaning of the second part or the hon. Member's question. The total cost of the Passport Office has at no time exceeded the revenue derived from passport fees.
