HC Deb 13 November 1933 vol 281 c566
52. Sir V. HENDERSON

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether any chairs or sofas in the Palace of Westminster have been upholstered during the recent Adjournment; and, if so, whether skins or hides of Empire origin were used?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative; and to the latter part in the negative. I have now given definite instructions that none but skins of Empire origin will in future be used for upholstery in the Houses of Parliament.
