HC Deb 08 November 1933 vol 281 c286

Considered in Committee under Standing Order No. 71A.

[Sir DENNIS HERBERT in the Chair].

Motion made, and Question proposed, That, for the purposes of any Act of the present Session to consolidate with amendments the enactments relating to authorities for the purposes of local government in England and Wales, exclusive (except in relation to certain matters) of London, it is expedient to authorise the forfeiture and payment into the Exchequer in certain cases of sums payable by county councils to councils of county districts equal to one-half of the salaries of persons appointed to act as medical officers of health of county districts." (King's Recommendation signified).—[Sir H Young.]

9.35 p.m.

Sir H. YOUNG

The point is a very small technical point. The motion deals with the power of county councils to impose certain penalties upon acting as well as actual medical officers of health and sanitary inspectors, and it is necessary to enable the proceeds of any such action to be repaid into the Treasury.

Resolution to be reported To-morrow.

The remaining Orders were read, and postponed.
