HC Deb 08 November 1933 vol 281 c175
16. Sir J. HASLAM (for Mr. HAMMERSLEY)

asked the Minister of Labour the number of persons unemployed in the hatting industry on the last available date and 12 months ago?

Mr. HUDSON

I regret that separate figures for hat manufacture are not available. At 23rd October, 1933, there were 4,806 insured persons in the hat and cap (including straw plait) industry classification recorded as unemployed in Great Britain. At 24th October, 1932, the corresponding number was 5,367. These figures are exclusive of the millinery industry, for which separate figures are not available.
