HC Deb 08 November 1933 vol 281 c164
1. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any joint examination has yet taken place under Article 2 of the Four-Power Pact of Articles 10, 16, and 19 of the Covenant of the League of Nations?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir John Simon)

No, Sir.

Mr. MANDER

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether it is proposed to take up those points in due course?

Sir J. SIMON

In due course, it may be so. At present the Four-Power Pact has been ratified by two of the signatories, but has not yet been ratified by the other two.

Mr. THORNE

Is there any paper which we can obtain which will give the full obligations so far as the Four-Power Pact is concerned?

Sir J. SIMON

I do not think that Pact can be said to impose obligations in the sense that my hon. Friend means. I think that a document has been published, but, if my hon. Friend will allow me to inquire, I will let him know.
