HC Deb 29 May 1933 vol 278 cc1537-8
21. Lord BURGHLEY

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he is in a position to state the amount of chilled beef to be imported during the quarter ending 30th September, 1933?

Major ELLIOT

Arrangements have been made to reduce the amount of chilled beef to be imported in the first half of the quarter ending 30th September next by 10 per cent. below the maximum agreed at Ottawa. The question of the reduction to be arranged for the remainder of that quarter is receiving close attention, and I hope to be in a position to make a further announcement shortly.

Miss HORSBRUGH

Will the right hon. Gentleman shortly announce the completion of the negotiations with regard to the wrappers for this meat?

Major ELLIOT

That question should be addressed to the President of the Board of Trade.
