asked the President of the Board of Trade what protection is afforded to British merchants who have registered their trade marks with the Chinese Government?

Registration of a trade mark under the Chinese Trade Marks Law confers upon the registered proprietor the exclusive right to use the trade mark upon the goods for which it is registered. It is understood that such exclusive right can be protected, either by a civil action or by means of proceedings under the Chinese Criminal Code.
