HC Deb 23 May 1933 vol 278 c928
37. Mr. CHORITON

asked the Minister of Health when the proposed arrangement to supply Water to Denby Dale, which at present suffers from scarcity, will be put into force?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

Difficulties have arisen in obtaining the contemplated bulk supply from a neighbouring local authority, and one of the inspectors of my Department is visiting the locality tomorrow to investigate the matter.

Mr. THORNE

Can the hon. Gentleman say what are the difficulties in connection with this matter; is the local authority in question putting any obstacle in the way of linking up the pipes?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

It is a question of getting the best supply at the most reasonable cost, and that involves consideration by the Department.

Mr. GLOSSOP

Will the inspector of the Ministry consult with a section of the ratepayers, as well as the council, on this matter?
