§ 31. Mr. T. GRIFFITHSasked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department the names of the countries that impose an import duty on oil, and the amount of duty imposed by each country?
§ Lieut.-Colonel J. COLVILLE (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)Many countries impose import duties on oils. There are over 100 separate tariffs containing many sub-divisions to include all varieties of vegetable and mineral oil. I consider, therefore, that the work involved in the preparation and publication of such a statement would not be justified. As I assume, however, that the hon. Member's question relates primarily to-import duties imposed on mineral oils other than motor spirit, I am sending him a statement showing the rates of duty imposed on such products in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the United States.
