HC Deb 17 May 1933 vol 278 cc347-8
30. Sir GIFFORD FOX

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has any statistics to show the number of road accidents during the past year which were due either partly or wholly to the fact that the side lamps of the motor car or motor coach involved therein were not carried on the tips of the wings or in a corresponding position?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir John Gilmour)

I regret that no statistics are available.

Sir G. FOX

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that motor coaches in many instances carry side lamps so high that they are really useless, and will he consider the advisability of laying down a regulation that side lamps shall be carried at a uniform height?

Sir J. GILMOUR

I think that is rather a problem for the Minister of Transport to consider.
