HC Deb 17 May 1933 vol 278 cc339-40
1. Mr. LOUIS SMITH

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he can state the chief differences which exist between the old and new agreements between the Anglo-Persian Oil Company and the Persian Government?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir John Simon)

I cannot make a comparative statement at present as the text of the new agreement between the Anglo-Persian Oil Company and the Persian Government has only just reached this country and is now being studied by the competent authorities.

Mr. SMITH

Can my right hon. Friend say whether there are any compensatory advantages to be taken into consideration for the concessions granted?

Sir J. SIMON

I think that it would be better to wait for the examination of the agreement. I do not think that the hon. Gentleman will have any reason to complain.
