§ 32. Captain McEWEN (for Miss WARD)asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what progress, if any, has been made in the negotiations proceeding between the Cunard and White Star Companies; and whether the information is such as to justify the Government offering financial assistance for the completion of work on Liner 534?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe negotiations are continuing. I cannot at present usefully add to what I said in the House in the Debate on 16th February and in 1703 answer to questions by the hon. and gallant Member for Ayr (Lieut.-Colonel Moore) on 23rd February.
§ Captain McEWENHas the right hon. Gentleman considered the advisability of exerting pressure on the companies in order to assist them in coming to an agreement?
