§ The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Oliver Stanley)As light signals operating on a fixed time cycle control traffic effectively under suitable conditions, I should not be justified in preventing their use or restricting them in favour of alternative devices. Highway authorities are, however, aware of the possibility of signals actuated by the traffic itself, and will no doubt consider the installation of this system in appropriate cases.
§ Mr. STANLEYI would not argue with the hon. Member on the possibilities of self-control.
