HC Deb 02 May 1933 vol 277 cc670-1
47. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the reason for the reduction of £404,000, from £6,443,000 to £6,039,000, in the estimated grant to the National Health Insurance Scheme, 1933–34, as set forth in Table C, page 9, of the Financial Statement, 1933–34?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer the hon. Member to paragraph 58 of the Memorandum on the Civil Estimates for 1933 by the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, where he will find a full explanation of the reduction to which he refers.

Mr. DAVIES

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the Actuary was consulted before that decision was reached?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I must have notice of that question.
