HC Deb 28 March 1933 vol 276 c836
33. Mr. MITCHESON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the amount of ad valorem duty received on the registration of new companies so far this year; and how it compares with the average for the last 10 years?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The net receipt of Companies' Capital Duty, including duty paid by companies already on the register as well as duty paid by new companies, was £893,000 for the 11 months to 28th February. My hon. Friend will find in Table 28 of the recently published 75th annual report of the Commissioners of Inland Revenue (Command Paper No. 4196) particulars of the net receipt for the past 10 years. The receipt of the duty is not recorded so as to distinguish the duty paid in connection with new registrations.
