HC Deb 23 March 1933 vol 276 cc483-4
33. Mr. LLEWELLYN-JONES

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether, having regard to the opportunity afforded by the impending change in the permanent secretary-ship of the Welsh Department of the Board, he will consider the desirability of removing the offices of that Department to some town in Wales?

Mr. RAMSBOTHAM

The answer is in the negative.

Mr. LLEWELLYN-JONES

Does the Minister realise that a permanent Welsh Department of Education was established 29 years ago, but in the meantime there has been considerable development in all phases of education in Wales. The Government, realising the importance of the decentralisation, established a Welsh Board of Health Several years ago, and will be take the Bathe course as regard to education?

Mr. RAMSBOTHAM

No representations in favour of a change have been received from any quarters. My Noble Friend does not think that they will serve any useful purpose.

Mr. LLEWELLYN-JONES

If representations are received from local authorities, will clue regard be paid to them?
