§ Following is the answer:
§ The statement attached gives the equivalent, expressed in terms of rates in the £, of the amounts estimated to be required for public assistance in the years indicated by local authorities in South Wales and Monmouthshire. The cost of public assistance, in common with that of other services, is defrayed partly out of rates and partly out of Exchequer grants under the Local Government Act, 1929, but as these are not allocated to particular services, the net cost to the ratepayer of any particular service cannot be shown.
§ North Riding County Council or by the Local Government Board or Ministry of Health; and whether he will now take steps to prevent similar outbreaks in future?
Sir H. YOUNGI have caused to be published a report on the recent outbreak of enteric fever at Malton (No. 69 in the series Reports on Public Health and Medical Subjects) of which I have sent a copy to my hon. Friend and which I think will afford him the information he desires.
