HC Deb 22 March 1933 vol 276 c309
Mr. LANSBURY

I beg to present to the House a humble Petition from the General Council of the Trades Union Congress, the National Executive of the Labour party, and the Co-operative Union. The Petition asks that the House and the Government should take in hand immediately the repeal of the policy of alleged economy, and, instead, put in hand public works in order to deal with unemployment. It also protests against the Government action in reducing wages and salaries. It asks that the changes made in unemployment insurance should be repealed; and for the complete removal of the unemployed from the Poor Law, and deals with various matters of importance to the unemployed and the masses of the workers of this country.
