HC Deb 22 March 1933 vol 276 cc318-9
18. Mr. DORAN

asked the Minister of Transport if he will consider introducing legislation at an early date which will compel motorists to use indicators affixed to the windscreen and at the back of the car in order to show which direction they intend to take?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

In their recently published report, the Departmental Committee on Traffic Signs did not recommend that the use of direction indicators should be made compulsory, but that if used they should comply with certain standard requirements. I have intimated my intention of accepting this recommendation.
