HC Deb 22 March 1933 vol 276 c326
11. Captain PETER MACDONALD

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has any information to show to whet extent the position of the sugar industry in British West Indies has improved as a result of the additional preference given under the Finance Act of 1932?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

As a result of the additional preferences given under the Finance Act of 1932, the sugar-producers in the British West Indian Colonies have been able to obtain a price which is generally sufficient to cover their costs and so to maintain their production.
