HC Deb 14 March 1933 vol 275 c1772
21. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs the amount contributed by each Dominion towards the upkeep of the Navy?

Mr. J. H. THOMAS

Apart from the contribution made by New Zealand towards the cost of the Singapore Naval Base, the Dominions do not contribute directly towards the upkeep of the Royal Navy. Most of the Dominions do, however, maintain at their own cost naval forces and establishments. Particulars will be found on pages 295–300 and 463–485 of the current Navy List.

Mr. MANDER

Is there any prospect of obtaining a contribution more in keeping with the services rendered by the British Navy?

Mr. THOMAS

If the hon. Member will look at the amount of their contribution towards their own Navy, he will be able to make the right deduction.
