HC Deb 14 March 1933 vol 275 c1780
43. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Agriculture what communications he has received from local authorities in the Don Valley area relating to floods; and will he state the nature of his reply?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Major Elliot)

Various communications have been received from the urban district council of Bentley-with-Arksey as to the recent flooding in that area. I do not think, however, I can say more than that every effort is being made to secure the passage into law of the Doncaster Area Drainage Bill with" as little delay as possible.

Mr. WILLIAMS

In the reply to the communication from the Bentley Council, was any promise of financial assistance from the Treasury made, or any other assistance promised that may secure an early undertaking of this work?

Major ELLIOT

No promise of any financial assistance from the Treasury has been made. The main desire of the council which it pressed upon us, was that the law should be put into force as quickly as possible.
