Mr. HUTCHISONasked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the cases of antimony poisoning reported from the use of cheap enamel ware in this country, he will lay down a standard of safe manufacture to which all leading British manufacturers shall be compelled to conform; and whether he will at the same time prohibit the importation of all foreign enamelled ware which does not fulfil the requirements above-mentioned?
Sir H. YOUNGI have no power to lay down a standard such as is suggested. I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of a circular which I have recently issued on the subject.
