HC Deb 08 March 1933 vol 275 cc1167-8
33. Sir W. DAVISON

asked the First Commissioner of Works if he will take steps to have shrubs planted on the garden side of the public lavatory recently erected at the end of the Flower Walk in Kensington Gardens, so as to conceal this building from the Flower Walk in the same way as has been done on the other side of the building facing Kensington Road?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

Yes, Sir. I am giving instructions for some additional shrubs to be planted on the garden side of the building.

Sir W. DAVISON

Is my right hon. Friend aware that there are no shrubs between the lavatory and the pathway, and the pathway is a bare piece of grass with no shrubs—at least there were not any on Sunday?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

Shrubs are planted between the Flower Walk and the new buildings, and so the public convenience is already masked.

Sir W. DAVISON

Is my right hon. Friend aware that there may be some misunderstanding? There is a bifurcation of the path, and there are no shrubs between the path immediately in front of the lavatory and the pathway.

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

That particular path leads to the lavatory.
