HC Deb 08 March 1933 vol 275 cc1169-70
41. Sir W. DAVISON

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department the number of highway robberies which have taken place in South Kensington during the last six months; in how many cases have the robbers been arrested and convictions obtained; and what steps are being taken to deal with this menace to the public safety in this part of London?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir John Gilmour)

I am informed by the Commis- sioner of Police that during the six months ended the 31st January there was one case of robbery with violence and 31 cases of bag-snatching in the South Kensington district. There has been one arrest which was followed by a conviction. It would obviously be undesirable that I should indicate the arrangements made to deal with the situation, but I am informed that this type of crime has recently decreased considerably in the district in question.
