asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether, before coming to a decision with regard to the withdrawal of one British battalion from Shanghai next trooping season, he will, through the Foreign Office, obtain the opinion of local British residents on the subject?

My hon. and gallant Friend may rest assured that the question of the withdrawal of a battalion' from Shanghai will be discussed with the Foreign Office in all its bearings before a decision is taken.
