HC Deb 06 March 1933 vol 275 c819
89. Mr. REMER

asked the Minister of Transport if in view of the success of white traffic lines as a help to the motor community and in view of the many accidents saved by this device, he will make an order that these white lines shall be compulsory at all corners?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of TRANSPORT (Lieut.-Colonel Headlam)

The effectiveness of white lines depends to a certain extent upon a reasonable restraint in their use. I understand that the Departmental Committee on Traffic Signs will deal with the use of white lines in their report, which my hon. Friend expects to receive shortly. He has no authority to make such an Order as my hon. Friend suggests.
