HC Deb 06 March 1933 vol 275 c812
67. Commander MARSDEN

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware of the stagnation prevailing in the cable room of the Central Telegraph Office at the present time; and whether he will take advantage of any opportunities that may present themselves of relieving the position?

Sir K. WOOD

I regret that, owing to the decline in Foreign Telegraph business, there is some redundancy of staff and, as a consequence, stagnation of promotion in the cable room. Such steps as are practicable are taken to relieve the situation by transfers to other offices, but it will be appreciated that the available opportunities are extremely limited.
