40. Mrs. WARD (for Sir JOSEPH NALL)asked the Secretary for Mines what steps he proposes to take in view of the present position of Part I of the Coal Mines Act; and whether he will consider the desirability of bringing Part I of the Act within the purview of the statutory commission set up for the purposes of Part II of the said Act?
§ Mr. E. BROWNAs regards the first part of the question, I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply on Tuesday to the hon. Member for Aberdare (Mr. G. Hall). As regards the second part, I take note of the suggestion, but my hon. Friend will appreciate that this would involve a complete change of the principle on which Part I of the Act is based.
