HC Deb 22 June 1933 vol 279 cc923-4
22. Mr. DAVID MASON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether His Majesty's Government intend to introduce during the present Session of Parliament any Measure or Measures carrying out their views on monetary policy, as recently declared at the Monetary and Economic Conference?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

I am not in a position to reply without knowing what decisions the conference will reach.

Mr. MASON

Does not the hon. Gentleman think that, if the Government took action to bring about the restoration of the £ and the resumption of foreign lending, it would tend to encourage other countries to follow our example?

Mr. SPEAKER

That is a matter of opinion.
