HC Deb 13 June 1933 vol 279 cc5-6
47 and 48. Mr. HOLDSWORTH

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) the number of applications received by the Import Duties Advisory Committee at present outstanding; and, in the case of those received more than one month ago, what period has elapsed since they were received by the committee;

(2) The number of applications to the last available date received by the Import Duties Advisory Committee, and the number of such applications which have been granted and rejected, respectively?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Hore-Belisha)

Besides the comprehensive reports rendered by the committee in April and July of last year, separate recommendations have been made by them in respect of 104 items. The committee have announced that as a result of their inquiries they do not propose at present to make any recommendation in regard to 19 other items in respect of which applications had been advertised. With regard to the remainder of the questions I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to a question by the hon. Member for West Nottingham (Mr. Caporn) on the 15th December of which I am sending him a copy.
