§ 29. Mr. R. W. SMITHasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if in view of the fact that there has been considerable delay by the Import Duties Advisory Committee in coming to decisions on applications made to the committee, he will consider the advisability of introducing legislation to increase the number of members of the committee and so make it possible for applications to be dealt with more expeditiously?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI would refer my hon. Friend to the answer which I gave to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Bournemouth on the 20th December last, of which I am sending him a copy, and to what I said on that occasion in answer to a supplementary question asked by my hon. Friend the Member for West Nottingham (Mr. Caporn).
