HC Deb 01 June 1933 vol 278 c2053
61. Mr. RANKIN

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department how many foreign nations are represented at the Chicago International Exhibition; and what is the policy of His Majesty's Government with regard to this matter?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Dr. Burgin)

I have been asked to reply. I have not yet received a report stating which foreign nations are represented at the exhibition in question, but when I receive the report for which I have asked, I will send the information to my hon. Friend. In reply to the second part of the question, I regret that in view of the high cost involved and the present necessity for rigid economy in public expenditure, it was not found possible to make arrangements for official participation by this country.
