HC Deb 19 July 1933 vol 280 cc1801-2
13. Mr. GUY

asked the Minister of Transport if he has considered the report of the Departmental Committee on Traffic Signs; and if he will take immediate steps, in co-operation with local authorities, to carry into effect the recommendations of the committee in the interests of the safety of the highways?

15. Mr. LEVY

asked the Minister of Transport whether it is intended to take any action, and, if so, what, on the Report of the Road Signs Committee?

Mr. STANLEY

I have already circulated the Report of the Departmental Committee on Traffic Signs to highway authorities and intimated to them in a circular, of which I am sending my hon. Friends copies, my decisions on the major part of the Committee's recommendations. As stated in the circular, I have reserved my decision on a few points which are still under consideration. The initiative with regard to the erection of approved signs rests with the highway authorities concerned.
