HC Deb 13 July 1933 vol 280 cc1246-7
27. Mr. MAINWARING

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the uneven manner in which the incidence of certain services falls upon local authorities, he is prepared to reconsider the whole system of block grants?

Sir H. YOUNG

No, Sir. The distribution of the block grant under the Local Government Act, 1929, is made under a formula devised to meet the varying needs of local authorities, and the Act itself provides for an investigation of the working before the end of the second fixed grant period.
