HC Deb 11 July 1933 vol 280 cc908-9
6. Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he can state the amount of imported meat, not including tinned meat, consumed by the Army and Air Force stationed at home during the last financial year?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Duff Cooper)

I am unable to state the actual amount con- sumed. The estimated requirements for the year in question were a little over 28,000,000 lbs., which was abnormally low owing to the cancellation of the Territorial Army camps. The normal annual requirements are about 30,000,000 lbs.

Lieut.-Colonel SANDEMAN ALLEN

Is it not a fact that practically all this meat is Dominion meat?

Mr. COOPER

Yes, all of it.
